I guess the ideal used Subaru is one that has been properly maintained. Or one that has 50 miles on it. You need more detail like how much are you looking to spend? As far as what years, really all N/A Subaru’s have had the same engine and tranny for abut the last 12 years. And the turbocharged models have really not changed either for a long time. So it just comes down to what you want. Whatever model you decide on, just make sure you see all scheduled maintenance. Some of the late 90′s Legacy’s and Impreza’s had head gasket issues but it’s not as bead as people make it out to be and Subaru was pretty good about taking care of the problem for people. It’s just too hard to make any kind of recommendation without knowing your budget.

He had us falling out of our chairs laughing and riveted when we could find the self restraint to shut up and listen to all that fine prose.
